Mathematical poetry
The course shares examples of mathematical poems to enable senior students to understand the rich combination of text, the four mathematical operations and images. Then, using image understanding as a method, students are guided to use concepts such as geometric figures, four arithmetic operations, and numbers to create their own unique illustrated mathematical poems.
space master
The course uses "Space Master" as a teaching tool to guide senior students to understand the mathematical principles of each unit. Then, in the form of origami, students were divided into groups to make the components of each cube, in order to train students' sense of space and build their understanding of space construction.
Styling designer
The course guides senior students to learn to measure their body shape and find the corresponding clothing and pants sizes, so that they can choose pants and shoes that best suit their body shape without going into a fitting room. Then, a simple concept of permutation and combination is used to guide students to choose the least number of clothes and pants to match them with the most outfits. Finally, it concludes with the labor and environmental issues caused by fast fashion.
Hands-on science
The course guides senior students to understand the physical and chemical properties of dry ice through practical exercises, including: gas sublimation, gas difficulty in heat transfer, hydrophobicity of air buoyancy, sound vibration, water rapid freezing, and dry ice gas being acidic when dissolved in water. Finally, based on the principle of gas expansion, students were guided to use film boxes to make safe dry ice bombs.
Little Prince's Starry Sky Bottle
The course is based on the concept of luminescence in life. Through the DIY implementation of starry sky bottles, the course guides senior students to have an in-depth understanding of the types of luminescence and their chemical principles in daily life, including: bioluminescence, electroluminescence, sonoluminescence, and luminescence. Finally, the starlight bottle completed by the students was placed under ultraviolet light, and the instructor led the students to observe the luminous effect of the starlight bottle.
Paper kingdom three-dimensional game
How many times can a piece of paper be folded?
Through practical activities such as floating water painting and origami, senior students are guided step by step to create unique colored paper flowers. Then, concepts such as Chinese Lunar New Year couplet types and couplets are introduced, and colored paper flowers are used as decorations, allowing students to use their imagination to create unique battle parties to echo the atmosphere of the upcoming Lunar New Year.
Cut and divide to play paper cutting
Through paper-cutting practice, the course introduces the concepts of mathematical fractions and proportions, leading senior students to learn how to accurately grasp, divide and fold paper into different equal parts without using a protractor, thereby understanding the essence of traditional Chinese paper-cutting craftsmanship. Core essentials.
islamic window grilles
The course focuses on proportions and units in life, and gradually explains to senior students the generating techniques behind the seemingly complex window grill totems in Islamic culture. After students understand the essentials of its composition, they can make simple and exquisite Islamic window grilles by themselves to help students deepen the mathematical knowledge acquired in the course.
