Aesthetic inspection outside school
The cross-field aesthetic education experimental curriculum development plan for secondary schools and elementary schools is about to come to an end. After the first and second phases of development and research, a rich and diverse cross-field aesthetic curriculum design has been developed from primary school to teacher training university. And practical cases, many are particularly exciting because they connect students’ experience and local resources. When the course experiment comes to an end with the end of the semester, we expect that the educational innovation effect of the cross-field aesthetic education project will continue to spread and ferment, so we will expand our cross-field footprint to the community and organize a series of day-to-day workshops. On the one hand, , we encourage teachers to enter urban and rural life scenes and mine rich aesthetic curriculum resources from local ordinary people’s culture to embody the concept of cross-field aesthetic education; on the other hand, we collaborate with local experts to construct workshops. The concepts of the promotion project and the educational value of STEAM are used to inject aesthetic vision and practical opportunities into local activities to enhance the aesthetic literacy of the whole people.
Maxine Greene, an American educational philosopher, said: "Aesthetic experience leads us to new ways of seeing, listening, feeling, and moving. It is the overall development of cognition, feeling, emotion, and imagination, allowing us to understand how our lives are. Connected with the world around us. "The cross-disciplinary aesthetic education project is people-centered and encourages aesthetic experience. It not only develops courses based on interdisciplinary subjects, but also attempts to transcend campus walls and connect educational knowledge and local knowledge through "Aesthetic Day Reading". Further create spontaneous, interactive, and shared awareness and learning situations, and use a cross-field aesthetic perspective to understand daily life scenes!
On-site day reading workshops allow teachers to have stronger connections with the place and students
In the past, there was little connection between art and life outside of art classrooms and music classrooms. Through day reading, teachers not only change their horizons, but also see the display of creative courses that combine external resources, thereby empowering teachers to internalize them; when teachers return to campus, they can integrate new kinetic energy and creative thinking in aesthetic education into teaching , which can extend the aesthetic effect of day reading and benefit students.
Zheng Fangjing, a teacher training professor who participated in the day study, said: "The day study activity gave me a conceptual impact. In the past, I was a mentor on campus, but when I participated in the day study and learned about the local area, I realized that the community was teaching me."
From the perspective of a teacher, we reverse the original guiding position, think outside the box, recharge ourselves through the guidance of local experts, and implement a holistic education that pays equal attention to moral, intellectual, physical, social, and aesthetic education.
Beauty‧fermented in every county and city
The partners of the "Cross-Border Aesthetics and Local Reading Workshop" are all units or groups in the community that are committed to promoting local culture. One thing they have in common is that they are all looking for better ways to guide people so that more people can appreciate the value of their hometown. Every prior communication is a field for aesthetic fermentation. In this field, local experts question aesthetic education, come to understand, and re-recognize the method of integrating the elements of aesthetic education into local culture. , which is different from the common community tours that are generally recognized and used in the market; local day-reading workshops combine various aesthetics and cross-domain ingenuity, and most of the time have unexpected effects, such as participating students in guiding The initiative and feedback are strong, or participation in the activity triggers subsequent changes in everyone's living habits. The fact that some students returned to participate in the activity is an affirmation of the success of the activity. Local experts were also amazed by the results of incorporating aesthetic education elements.
In addition, the "Cross-Domain Aesthetics and Local Day Study Workshop" also plays the role of concentrating resources. When everyone is working on the same thing, different roles inside and outside the campus take on the responsibilities of supervision, planning, execution, etc., and gather When we stimulate each other together, sometimes we can create infinite possibilities of one plus one. Many ideas practiced on campus are also magnified and realized during day study, and possibilities outside the campus are sprouted. This is also a cross-disciplinary aesthetic education and One of the concepts of community cooperation.
Huang Shizhi, director of the puppet theater troupe that hosted the first local day-reading workshop, said: “I didn’t quite understand it at the beginning. Professional stage performances and outdoor history explanations originally focused on one gesture, but with cross-disciplinary aesthetic design, The staff of the painting guide and discuss, and use a very natural way to interact through experience and day reading, so that everyone can understand their own lives in the field of performing arts. This is the so-called activation, and this is the best.”
The community becomes an enlarged version of the classroom
In various day school events across Taiwan, we try to use different roles. There are day school activities planned by teachers from partner schools, there are also units that have long been concerned about the barrier-free system for long-term care, and even local cultural and historical work that focuses on parent-child education. This makes the appearance of the day school field more diverse. The oldest participants are in their eighties and the youngest are five years old. In addition to teachers, there are many students and parents of primary and secondary schools. When they enter directly When it comes to the process of the activity, they usually don’t have much understanding of cross-field aesthetic education. But at the end of the day reading activity, through personal experience, they can feel their understanding of the concept of the program in the feedback from the questionnaire, and they can also see their understanding of the program concept. Learning and hope are implemented in life, and the community becomes an enlarged version of the classroom, where various imaginations of courses are realized.
Day reading makes learning more interesting
Teacher Zhang Shiyue, who hosted the day reading in Taitung, was particularly impressed. The teaching field is usually difficult for the general public to understand. It is too deep and has too many proper nouns. If it is written in words, It is difficult to communicate with verbal explanations about what school teachers have planned for their children at school. However, through day reading activities, participating community children and parents of students intuitively experience the cross-field aesthetic education that their children receive in school. , let’s use our five senses to experience the church in the community, especially listening to the children’s guide to the characteristics of the community. They can understand it directly without any explanation. This is also an example of how day reading can bring the school and the community closer.
You can also take a walk in the 19-story Laurel Building in Keelung. This is an experience that is different from other events. Artist Wang Jie leads everyone into the perspective of beauty, deconstructing the poetry of the eight sceneries of Keelung, and matching it with the surrounding large floor-to-ceiling windows. The prosperous scenes of the eight sceneries of the past and present, especially the participants are the section chiefs and staff of the Education Bureau. Even if they are not walking in the neighborhoods, they are walking through the alleys and alleys as they wish. They use postcards to record this special scene by sketching the scenery. Through the reading experience, you can send and share the rich mood of cross-domain beauty to yourself and others. The diverse appearance of day reading not only appears in the participating objects and sites, but also the design method is full of experimentation, which is also an interesting aspect of day reading planning.
Use walking reading to explore the beauty of life on the outer islands
The day study even went to outer islands. "This day trip (Penghu) gave me a life education full of meaning and value. Who could know the other side of the bay, and who would know that seaborne waste can create such value, let us Let’s protect the most beautiful bay together,” participant Lin Hanping expressed his feelings when giving back his experience. The Sea Drift Laboratory, which hosted the Day Study - Penghu session, used interesting aesthetic creations to draw participants' attention to environmental protection on the heavy topic of marine debris. It allowed participants to actually collect marine debris as creative materials while also reflecting on their current situation. How did the shocking scene of a seaside full of garbage come about? It influenced participants to change their living habits after participating in the event and triggered their own ethical and moral consciousness.
The location of Matsu Day Study is located in the iron plate settlement of Renai Village, Nangan Island. However, through the study of color issues, we can also pay attention to the brightness of the eaves and stone walls of the settlement and the sudden community issues that need to be improved. Everyone is talking about it. Discussing the look and feel created by the size of store signs on the street, whether the standards for government subsidies to beautify the community meet the public's expectations, and the community's consensus on aesthetics were discussed so conspicuously in the community for the first time. Even young students also raised the issue. Views, what you can see is that such activities gather people’s opinions and consciousness, and stimulate each other to create community resonance. When everyone comes, they only have themselves, and when they go back, they take away more gains.
Through day study, you can witness that life outside school can also be learned in an interesting way. It turns out that seemingly ordinary local scenery can be so vivid, and it can even turn out that through a beautiful perspective, you can fall in love with our land more and more.
Implement national aesthetic education and improve aesthetic literacy
The "Cross-field Aesthetic Education Experimental Curriculum Development Project" has been quenched for 5 years, and its achievements on campus are dazzling. When the seeds sprout and grow, they grow strong and dense, and the elongated branches span the brick walls, break through the barriers, and let the people outside the school You can also feel the fruitfulness of the plan. The workshop does not limit participation to only teachers. Students and parents of students can also realize that through day reading activities, the environment they are familiar with has other perspectives and unexpected angles. A student from the Miaoli session said in his feedback sharing: "I have been married here for decades. Before participating in the event, I thought I had a better understanding of this land, but today I felt particularly deeply. It turns out that I didn’t really appreciate its beauty. It’s so interesting. I feel very proud to be a person here.” Touching the buds of the participants’ sense of beauty and even their desire for knowledge is what the workshop hopes to achieve. The goal of "implementing aesthetic education for all".
The "Cross-Domain Aesthetics·Local Reading Workshop" activity explores local experiences of the five senses and combines them with environmental protection, history, natural ecology, and even technology, allowing aesthetics to enter the community and explore and interact with participating partners. Well, at the same time, it also places its vision on implementing aesthetic education for all and improving the aesthetic literacy of all people, leading everyone regardless of each other to gather awareness of aesthetics locally, and making cultural inspiration stronger.
