The Ministry of Education's "Cross-field Aesthetic Education Excellence Pilot Plan" has been promoted for more than 10 years, and the third phase of the mid- and long-term aesthetic education plan has been launched in a new year. The cross-disciplinary aesthetic education project is committed to using art as a bridge, integrating social-emotional learning, sustainable development goals (SDGs), etc. to build an aesthetic curriculum that integrates multiple fields and responds to the "Mental Health Awareness Month" in May to develop aesthetic literacy. Emotional awareness courses inspire students' minds and develop multiple intelligences.
"Mental Health Awareness Month" was launched by the Mental Health Organization of America in 1949 to arouse public awareness and concern about mental health. Social-emotional learning (SEL) is a global education trend that has been widely discussed in recent years. Therefore, the cross-domain aesthetic course "Responsive to Every Request ~ Life Tips" at Liulin Elementary School in Chiayi County takes visual art as the core, connects language, comprehensive activities and other fields, and combines Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory to deeply explore the relationship between teachers and students in life, environment, Obstacles encountered at psychological, social and other levels, and think about how to respond and solve them.
In the Chinese language course, students are first allowed to express their troubles through "signed poems" of seven or five character quatrains to help children understand their inner world; students are also guided to discover from interviews with family members, peers and school senior volunteers. Problems of different age groups, through asking questions and learning to listen, encourage students to empathize and respect others. After gathering all the worries from all sides, the teacher integrated SEL into artistic creation, guiding students to use their creativity, give unique names to the worries and draw appropriate illustrations, while thinking and exploring solutions.
The mid-term course invited calligraphy poet Mr. He Jingchuang to the school to share his creative process and guide students in appreciating and creating calligraphy poems. Under the step-by-step guidance of teachers, children refine their troubles and solutions, express their emotions through poetry creation, and create children's poems called "Life Recipes."
The course will be further deepened in the next semester, allowing students to experience the beauty of silk printing art, stimulate children's creativity and inspiration through the five senses and six senses, create "Life's Recipe Signed Poems" silk printing works and cloth bags, and learn about silk printing through "learning by doing" Cheng and the reproducible nature of printmaking art. At the end of the semester, teachers and students jointly planned the "Looking for the Wind and Relieving Worries - Magical Tips for Opening the Heart Exhibition", which was divided into three exhibition areas: "stop, look, and listen" to present the students' creative achievements over the past year. The students themselves served as guides to explain the works and interact with the audience. comminicate.
The students happily said: "I didn't dare to share my thoughts at first, but then I discovered that there is no right or wrong. Now I am no longer afraid to express my opinions." "Through this activity, I found that solving problems has become It’s even easier! Because everyone’s reminders, support, and my signed poems inspire me, I’m as motivated as a little train with a battery!” Through this cross-domain aesthetic course, students can not only know and understand themselves better, but also find a better way to find themselves. Problem-solving methods improve self-confidence and expression skills; it is also highly recognized by parents, cultivates children's empathy and respect for different people and things, and promotes students' positive interpersonal relationships.
The Ministry of Education stated that positive emotional learning and good communication and interaction are the cornerstones of students' effective learning.
