Shazhong Beauty Education Program cultivates students’ artistic expertise! Sands Junior High School focuses on the new curriculum that emphasizes literacy orientation and cross-disciplinary concepts. This year, the school applied to participate in the Ministry of Education's cross-disciplinary aesthetic education experimental curriculum development project for secondary schools. It hopes to cultivate students through various aesthetic educations. The subject expertise will add new artistic force to the region!
Song Wenwen, the principal of Jinsha Junior High School, said that in the past few decades, Taiwan’s education has been mainly subject-oriented, and there is a lack of opportunities for horizontal connections between subjects. In order to improve this lack of horizontal connections, Jinsha Junior High School started from the second phase of the plan. Start participating. Since the 105th academic year, we have so far experimented with courses combining two different fields!
This year’s aesthetic education course was developed and led by visual arts teacher Li Wanqi. In the early stage, Professor Zeng Yiren from the Department of Architecture of Kinmen University was invited to give a workshop to explain how Kinmen’s local historical and architectural assets can combine aesthetics and subject areas in cross-disciplinary courses. The first round-robin course combines visual arts, geography, and Scouting courses, focusing on Jinsha’s local resources, and conducts course activities such as sketching of historical sites, exploring the relationship between architecture and geographical environment, and directional map exploration of old streets.
As for the second phase of the cycle course, which combines nature, visual and performing arts courses, with the sound unit of natural science as the theme, students can learn about the generation of sound waves, as well as sound reflection and ultrasonic waves in the nature class, and the visual arts course conducts sound-sensing painting and performance courses. Through the development training of voice and emotion communication, it is expected that through the horizontal connection between courses, students can integrate life experience and what they have learned in school, and integrate beauty into life and courses.
During the implementation of the plan, Jinsha Junior High School also held the second phase of the cross-field aesthetic education experimental course development plan for secondary schools yesterday to observe the special courses. Associate Professor Li Qichang of the National Taiwan University of Arts and relevant committee members came to guide and meet with the principal Song Wenzhang and the teaching teachers. Li Wanqi and students from Jinsha Junior High School observed and exchanged views. The school also arranged a comprehensive discussion in the afternoon, hoping to communicate the views of local and central education officials, implement the plan implementation progress, and cultivate more art leaders for the region.
