Taiwan’s leading aesthetic teachers visit France to embark on a journey of exploring Parisian aesthetics

The teacher delegation visited the City of Science and Industry, the largest natural science museum in Europe, and took a commemorative photo in front of the museum.

National Taiwan Normal University was entrusted by the Ministry of Education with the "Cross-field Aesthetic Education Excellence Pilot Project" to coordinate the "2023 Aesthetic Education International Pilot Teachers' Study Abroad Visit" and select outstanding students who participated in aesthetic education-related projects across the country and won the Art Education Contribution Award. Aesthetic teachers visited South Korea and France to study, and the aesthetic knowledge accumulated in Taiwan in recent years can be linked to the world.

The French visiting delegation was led by Peng Baoshu, Section Chief of the Department of Teachers and Arts of the Ministry of Education, Professor Huang Chunmin of the Department of Education of National Taiwan Normal University, and Professor Li Qichang of the Institute of Art and Humanities Teaching of National Taiwan University of Arts. They led 22 teachers from all over Taiwan who have been effective in promoting aesthetic education. A "Paris Aesthetic Map Exploration" was launched from November 7th to 17th, with remarkable results.

After observing the class, teacher Kang Yuting of Taitung Girls' High School said: "Ferdinand Bisson Kindergarten allows people to see the people-centered teaching essence of education. When a teacher cultivates a child from an artist's perspective, he becomes an artist." During the modern dance class observation at Henry Bergson Middle School, the visiting teachers danced directly with the students at close range and created sketches together. The experience of communicating with the body has broken down the language barrier and experienced the exchange of art without borders."

In addition to an overview of course teaching at each stage of study, the visit also included an aesthetic tour of art palaces such as the Louvre, the Musée Française du Quai Blanche, and the Musée d'Orsay, and cultural visits to characteristic neighborhoods; a perfume and olfactory feast, and an immersive digital experience at the Museum of Light Artistic sensory experience, the classic opera "The Magic Flute" at the Champs-Elysees Theater and the avant-garde dance performance on transgender issues at the Autumn Arts Festival, etc., stimulate teachers' inspiration for beauty.

During the trip, we also met with Ambassador Wu Zhizhong of the Representative Office in France. Ambassador Wu said that the representative office is committed to deepening the relationship between Taiwan and France. He is very happy that the aesthetic teachers group came to visit, which not only promotes exchanges between Taiwan and the world, but also contributes to future cooperation and in-depth exchanges at different levels. The visiting teachers also expressed that they will definitely bring everything they have learned back to Taiwan for practical application!

Mr. Zhan Yupu, a teacher from Guobei Education Dashi, said: "I saw artists co-constructing courses with teachers and students, cross-border cooperation, and encouraging teachers to participate and integrate into the courses introduced by artists. I was moved by France's perseverance in taking aesthetic education downwards, and the beauty of a country "It takes strong arms to take root." Teacher Hong Huilin of Xiaogang High School also praised: "Slowly walking through the historical sites, admiring the historical positioning of ancient and modern princes and nobles to citizens and prime ministers in shaping and interpreting aesthetics; together they create a city that is desirable. Aesthetic education teachers from various art and subject fields in primary and secondary schools across the country, through this trip to Paris to expand their aesthetic life territory, have gained a lot and been moved.
