The Ministry of Education recently approved the 2022 cross-field aesthetic education excellence pilot schools. Three schools in Hsinchu County have stood out from more than 300 schools in Taiwan, including Zhudong Junior High School and Neiwan Elementary School respectively with the names of Forest Farm Diary of a Small Town Boy and Ying Lai. Happiness-themed courses were both selected as county-owned seed schools. Xinglong Elementary School, which is deeply involved in cross-disciplinary aesthetic education, started from environmental education and designed a quick "garbage" appreciation course, and was awarded the county's benchmark school.
Zhudong Town was once an important forestry town. The forest farm diary of the town boy led students to explore the mountains and forests, actually visit the mountains and forests, learn techniques such as lumber gathering and thinning, and continue to plant saplings to regenerate the forest. The course also deeply explores the rise and fall of Zhudong forestry, records the worksite of the elderly, and passes on the memories to the next generation. Finally, students are also allowed to practice, combine carpentry skills, use local wood, and transform classrooms, allowing students to design a new learning environment.
Neiwan has a rich natural ecological environment and attracts many tourists every year during the firefly season. Neiwan Elementary School selected themes closely related to life and implemented a cross-disciplinary aesthetic plan with the happiness of fireflies as the main axis. There are 3 sub-questions on the taste of love and happiness. The course integrates the ecology of local fireflies and the Youluo River water area, and conducts a series of aesthetic courses in accordance with the seasonal timing. Take your children to observe and experience, understand the connections between people, rivers, mountains and forests, and the living environment, and share each other's feelings and discoveries.
Xinglong Elementary School has been involved in cross-disciplinary aesthetics for 4 years. In 2017, the theme was selected as Lego Doll Talk and Stop-motion Animation Production. In 2019, the theme was Wind Music Kingdom Animation. In 2020, the theme was Truth, Goodness and Beauty Performing Arts Hakka Show. In 2021, the theme was To make lasting memories of childhood. This year, Xinglong Elementary School designed a "garbage" celebration. The cross-disciplinary aesthetic course focused on environmental education. Through a series of courses and activities, children will be aware of the importance of environmental protection, and then care for their hometown and the earth.
