Chiayi University, Chiayi City─Exploring the creation and expression of Taiwan’s mangrove ecology

In theory, environmental education needs to combine the knowledge of humanities and natural sciences. In order to implement the ideal of environmental education, it also requires the construction of a sustainable ecological culture. With this goal in mind, we hope to start by understanding our own national ecology.
The ecology of "mangroves" is interconnected. With climate change and man-made environmental damage, it is even more urgent to protect mangroves. Therefore, this teaching has designed three series of units to explore mangrove ecology. The first series of units is "Understanding Mangrove Ecology", which first builds students' basic ecological knowledge before entering the subsequent creative process. The second series of "Mangrove Ecological Picture Book Creation" combines knowledge with artistic form, which is the "unity of knowledge and action" in art education. Finally, the third series of "Mangrove Drama Performance" integrates the teaching essence of the aforementioned units. While using both hands and brain, it also combines various creative expressions of the body to truly internalize and implement the ecological environment and artistic expression. I hope that students can absorb knowledge and create learning results in happiness. I believe this is the ultimate and most anticipated practical concept for teachers and students.
