Kaohsiung City Wenfu Junior High School─Integration of local aesthetic resources: "Aesthetic education in theater arts and citizenship courses"

Since the founding of the school, Wenfu Junior High School’s school-based curriculum has designed activities to allow children to jump onto the stage, namely the “English Singing Competition” and “English Drama Performance”. I have been watching students perform in the school activity center for 3 or 4 years. I am always amazed by their rich stage ideas and their physical performances that become more mature every year. I really feel that children need sufficient nutrition to nurture them. The establishment of the Weiwuying Art Center in Kaohsiung has become the performing arts environment in southern Taiwan and an important art base that is in line with the international community. If Wenfu children can understand traditional art in an interesting way in an artistic performance space in their hometown, and then appreciate the beauty of local culture, the wonder of traditional music, and the uniqueness of traditional drama, then they will cherish their own cultural value and then care for those in the community. Local humanities, learning environments for developing public art and ethnic culture are everywhere.
