Themes and materials (birthdays, prints, plants)
This year is the 50th birthday of Changfu Elementary School. In conjunction with the school anniversary, it is necessary to have appropriate activity arrangements and venue layouts, as well as appropriate dynamic and static works to display the results.
Changfu has a tradition of creating hometown stories. Every year, senior children will jointly create a story and print it into a pocket book as a school souvenir. (Works over the yearshttps://cfupsstorybook.blogspot.com/)
This year’s Changfu story should naturally revolve around the theme of Changfu Elementary School’s 50th birthday. When I think of school history, I naturally think of yellowing old black and white photos. So, what kind of material is suitable for creation? After discussion, we decided to use "printmaking" as this year's creative material.
In the previous cross-disciplinary aesthetic project, our theme was "Dancing with the Big Trees". In addition to the completed plant solar imaging works, the children were also quite familiar with the campus plants and often compared different leaves, seeds, and fruit shells. , different shapes formed by the combination of branches, especially the shapes of small animals. In order to continue the previous learning results, seed creation has become another creative material option for us.
Therefore, we decided to use two different materials, "printmaking" and "plants", to create a "birthday" themed Changfu picture book.
2. Collaboration and division of labor
Fifty years of school history is neither long nor short. Without certain qualifications, compilation, and research, it is difficult to describe the school history clearly. School history must be presented from a child’s perspective, and “history” must be explained clearly. To be vivid, you also need to work hard on the text. Therefore, understanding of school history and story creation are led by comprehensive activity teachers and mentors. Plant creation and printmaking are taught by art teachers and assisted by other teachers.
3. Extended development
After completing "Journey Through Time and Changfu's Transformation", the children found that printmaking was very interesting and wanted to engrave something more. So, they designed creative idiom pictures based on the idiom of "Fu" (Changfu) in the Chinese language and made " A series of prints titled "Guess the Chinese Idiom of Fortune" were used as the venue decoration for the school anniversary.
4. Benefit diffusion
Besides being used as a souvenir, what else can the completed hometown picture book "A Journey Through Time and Space Changfu's Transformation" be used for? This year, the children chose to sell their creations for charity and pass them to the Chinese Panshi Association to sponsor the Nepal Lighting Life Primary School and help Nepali earthquake-stricken students go to school.
