Continuing the course from the previous semester, students learned about many aspects of plant cultivation and application through observing, caring for, and recording herb mosquito repellent, food education applications, Chinese newspaper reading records, and technological drip irrigation. Through the recording and editing of the video, students have gained a preliminary idea of the school's promotion of the herb garden course through learning by doing.
The main axis of this semester [Take root locally vs. Based in Taiwan], we have retained and deepened the natural sciences, food education, art and Chinese parts that have achieved good results in the previous promotion. This semester, we also took the children to visit TSMC Central Science and Technology. In the ecological park, we saw how TSMC’s factory planned a green energy, environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing factory, and thought about what other lessons we should emulate in the future. During the factory exploration, the children easily shared our experience with the factory commentators when they saw the plants grown on our campus. But most of the time, it really feels like Grandma Liu visiting the Grand View Garden. Every time she takes the children out, they bring their learning to a broader realm of learning. Aesthetic ability comes from the aesthetic experience in life. The more often you are exposed to beautiful things, the more aesthetic feelings you can trigger. There should be no obvious boundaries between beauty and life. In this aesthetics course, we used the plants on campus to create creations: peel-and-paste paintings, and used the book "Look for Small Animals in the Vegetable Garden" to create the interdependent relationship between plants and animals, symbolizing the endless and rich ecology of the earth, and enhancing the children's Understand nature and coexist harmoniously with nature.
