According to a domestic media survey, manhole covers ranked seventh among the "Top Ten Ugly Streets in Taiwan" because of their monotonous design and easy slipping, causing accidents. However, road observers in neighboring Japan believe that "by appreciating manhole covers, at the same time I’m also appreciating the city.” In fact, as long as they are carefully designed, manhole covers can also be transformed into street art to promote local aesthetics and cultural characteristics.
The purpose of aesthetic literacy is to cultivate students' feeling of "Ah! There is beauty!" to the things in life.
