Taichung City Daming High School – Character determines destiny – The human aesthetics of “Hongmen Banquet”

"The Banquet at Hongmen" is an extremely exciting chapter in historical records. In this course design, we plan to complete the text teaching in five lessons. The first four lessons use teaching methods such as film appreciation, text reading, narration and guided thinking to allow students to understand historical records and complete text narration. The fifth lesson is writing teaching: dialogue writing exercises and short essay writing on idiom application. The sixth class integrates life education issues: explore the aesthetics of human nature, discuss and analyze the character's personality and their response attitude in the face of crisis? What are the values and beliefs behind their decisions? Then think about what kind of person you want to be? What are my most important values and beliefs?
The visual and performing arts part is planned to be completed in six classes. The first three classes are the display of visual art and the integration of perspective thinking and empathy cultivation in life education. Students choose one of the characters or roles in "Hongmen Banquet" to deeply understand his personality and image, and the role setting, and practice looking at the world from the perspective of others through the study sheets, cultivating children's ability to think from others' perspective, and finally Complete visual creation drawing. The last three sections of performing arts allow students to perform impromptu without props. The first is to physically perform a static freeze-frame scene based on the plot of the text. The second stage is to imagine a three-minute dynamic performance, and students can rewrite the plot. We hope to cultivate students' ability to unite and cooperate, communicate, express, imagine, innovate, and solve problems. I hope that through the creation of visual and performing arts, I can experience and feel the perspectives and dialogues of characters with different personalities, and understand the deeper meaning that determines a person's destiny in life.
