The cross-disciplinary curriculum framework of this semester has added music and singing in Minnan and Hakka to the tea ceremony class of the school-based curriculum. This semester, we have planned to develop dance courses from body stretching activities, and added indigo dyeing courses to the Hakka course to let students understand Hakka art and culture. Dance performances have been added to Hakka and Minnan folk songs to give students different learning options and allow the language to be internalized in students' performances. In addition to the static learning of language and songs in Hakka and Minnan courses, students have added the kinetic energy of body stretching to stimulate their motivation to learn. The hand-made indigo dyeing course cultivates students' creativity and aesthetic sense, allowing students to experience the charm of traditional crafts through practical experience. And promote environmental protection concepts, understand the application of natural dyes and the value of sustainable development. The body stretching course is a beautiful cleansing for the body and mind. In the static language and song courses, you can practice the methods of dialogue and conversation. By adding body stretching courses (dance) to the language and songs, you can have a different feast after the high-tension state. After the dance course, your mood will be more stable and your thoughts will be clearer. You can also learn different cross-domain courses here. Nowadays, students have many erratic behaviors due to academic pressure and forget their own physical and mental deficiencies and needs. Through the cross-disciplinary courses arranged by the school, the students’ stressful emotions are slowly adjusted and their bodies can return to balance and health.
In addition, a horizontal connection is made between the original musical instrument learning and tea ceremony learning courses. Students add musical elements to the original tea-making scenario. This semester, dynamic body activities are added to make the course content more diverse and lively. We hope to integrate and deepen the teaching of language, tea art, dance and art through cross-disciplinary collaboration, combining artistic performances, language poetry singing and handcraft courses, and adding body stretching courses to increase student learning outcomes. Limb stretching classes are not strenuous; they are gentle, relaxing and non-competitive. They can produce a subtle, refreshing feeling and transmit it to the muscles. This class varies from person to person and there is no need to follow any rigid rules. Stretching exercises rely on yourself and make you feel like yourself. Then, we combine it with the original language activities to develop courses suitable for students.
Through the learning and practice of the indigo dyeing course, students have achieved multi-faceted growth in knowledge, skills, attitudes, etc.
Students can understand the historical background and cultural value of indigo dyeing, recognize the characteristics of indigo dyeing techniques in Taiwan and around the world, and thus develop an interest in traditional skills, thereby enhancing their sense of identity and respect for local culture. In the process of practice, creativity and aesthetics are developed, and unique patterns are designed through different dyeing techniques. Improve manual skills and concentration, and cultivate patience and careful attitude. During the dyeing process, students can actively try different designs and techniques, and learn to solve problems in the practical process, such as uneven dyeing and patterns not being as expected. Through discussion and practice, we reflect on how to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern environmental protection concepts to promote sustainable development design applications.
In dance classes, simple exercises are used to gradually increase muscle strength and flexibility, and feel one's inner self, relieving muscle stiffness and soreness, increasing body flexibility while providing needed rest. It is an experiential learning education in which learners develop simple skills through dynamic dance courses, paired with language and song singing performances. Therefore, in cross-field courses, students can cultivate their patience, respect and gratitude for people, inspire their resilience and perseverance in life, and transform it into an artistic atmosphere. The tea banquet in the centenary anniversary achievement exhibition The surrounding atmosphere was complemented by students' songs and dances accompanied by the accompaniment of ancient Chinese dulcimer, creating a warm atmosphere. It is hoped that through cross-disciplinary cooperation, the artistic performance process, Hokkien poetry and ballads, and Hakka poetry and ballads will be added to integrate and deepen the teaching of language, tea art, dance and art, and increase students' learning effectiveness.
Through the process of joint lesson preparation by school teachers and the hiring of professional tea sommeliers and dancers to conduct teacher training at the school, teachers’ teaching abilities are enhanced, and cross-disciplinary qualities such as music, language and dance are added to revitalize the original tea ceremony teaching.
