This course is the first course of the next semester's course "Antiquities and Authentic Antiquity". "Antique vs. Authentic" is a comparison of modern architecture that imitated traditional architecture in North China during the martial law period and traditional architecture in Taiwan. No matter what they are, they are all built using similar elements. Therefore, in this course, students are first asked to use connecting words and architectural shapes to explore the appearance, function and location of various elements of traditional architecture. We can also use architectural shapes to enhance students' ability to understand the form, meaning and usage of words. After experiencing the classroom courses to understand the general principles of traditional architecture, students were led to visit local antique buildings (Chiayi Confucius Temple) and authentic ancient buildings (Chiayi City God Temple) in Chiayi City, allowing them to apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom courses to observe these elements of architecture.
