Chiayi City Jingzhong Elementary School─The Story of Cultural Exchange

Visual art is the result of cultural effects. The visual environment we are familiar with all stems from cultural conflict, acculturation and inheritance. In-depth understanding of visual art symbols, in addition to feeling their beauty, also involves reflection on cultural phenomena. The theoretical basis of this plan is the maritime historical perspective and the common people's historical perspective. The Ocean View of History believes that "cultural exchange" is the main driving force of historical development. The course requires students to look for evidence of cultural exchange from visual arts, and it also promotes students to actively explore knowledge. The common people's view of history reduces the importance of "people" in historical development and denies that history is the history of heroes and beauties. In the course, we try our best to start from the visual symbols of cultural relics and strengthen their connection with historical development.
There is a close relationship between aesthetic value and cultural exchange, and cultural exchange is affected by political, economic, social and other factors. It is hoped that this teaching plan will not only enable students to better appreciate the visual symbols of East Asian imagery, but also better understand how the visual environment around us is shaped.
