Huayu Branch School is located beside a shallow mountain, with the clear Cukeng Creek meandering by. The stream is filled with the fragrance of wild ginger flowers, flocks of fluttering butterflies, occasional muntjacs visiting the campus, hopping purple thrushes, five-colored birds in tree holes, crested goshawks flying into the library, solitary finch busying in and out of the screen window, and Taiwan macaques playing and climbing in the woods. The campus and the trails behind the mountain are our learning venues. Life is full of the beauty of nature and the wonders of life because of the small animals. This is the "Dream Mountain Song" that we compose in harmony with nature.
When humans and animals meet in the mountains, they develop the environment while also destroying the animal habitats. Scientists have proposed the concept of "ecological corridors" in the hope of reserving suitable activity space for animals and preventing species from disappearing due to human facilities. How to coexist harmoniously with small animals in low mountain areas? These are the environmental issues we want to explore and solve.
