Taipei City Jingmei Junior High School—Human Rights Road, Art on the Road: Human Rights and Art Action Course

Since Jingmei Middle School is adjacent to the Jingmei Human Rights Museum, the school hopes that students can gain a deep understanding of the museum’s historical background and its connection to the Jingmei area. Therefore, the course planning starts from the history of Jingmei, with the autobiography of Mr. Xu Guibiao, a local victim during the White Terror period, "Warm Sun Jingwei" as the core text, as an opportunity to start this series of human rights courses.

This course is designed with the concept of "historical reflection, local connection and action practice". Through interdisciplinary integration, it guides students to cultivate their understanding and concern for human rights from multiple perspectives, from text reading, historical research to art and social issues. We hope that students will not only understand the history of the White Terror period, but also think about its impact on contemporary society and practice human rights values in their daily lives.

In addition, by combining the exhibitions of the Human Rights Museum and the Taiwan Literature Museum, and in conjunction with International Human Rights Day in December and International Tannin Day in April, the school will launch a series of courses related to human rights equality, allowing students to deepen their understanding of human rights in a diverse learning context, cultivate independent thinking and civic awareness, and truly implement human rights education in life.
