Miaoli County Mingren Junior High School - Urban Aesthetics - Cultural Tour of Miaoli Wenchang Temple

This course focuses on Miaoli Wenchang Temple, combining local culture, monument restoration and artistic creation to guide students to explore egg tempera and pastel techniques, and understand their application and cultural value in temple painting. As a third-level historical site recognized by the Ministry of the Interior, Miaoli Wenchang Temple not only carries the local history and cultural memory, but its courtyard-style architecture and traditional construction methods are also important symbols of the integration of urban and rural cultures, reflecting the essence of traditional Chinese architecture.
Through expert lectures, field visits and multimedia teaching, the course will help students understand temple structures and construction techniques, and deepen their understanding of cultural preservation and sustainable development. At the same time, temple restorers were invited to share the challenges and value of restoring local monuments, allowing students to experience firsthand how to protect local culture through traditional craftsmanship.
In addition, students will learn English vocabulary related to temple architecture and murals, improve their international communication skills, and create postcards with Wenchang meanings through color swatches to participate in cultural exchanges with Japan. This is not only a cross-domain learning of art and language, but also an opportunity to promote Miaoli's local culture to the world, allowing students to cultivate recognition and inheritance awareness of local culture through the practice of urban-rural connection and cultural sustainability.
