[Course Highlights] Hualien County Guofeng Junior High School─Collage Show of Image Poetry

This course plan is planned to combine three subjects: Chinese language, visual arts, and performing arts. The subject part mainly cooperates with the teaching of new poems in the field of Chinese language for seventh grade students, and allows all seventh grade students to participate in a three-line poem cutting and pasting writing competition. Visual art appreciates the collage art of modern art using ready-made images, and guides students to create a collage picture with a proposition and text explanation. Finally, in performing arts, students are expected to work in groups to perform a poem using body movements or sounds, allowing students to have a cross-field integrated learning experience and reorganize the symbolic abstract thinking and imagination of "words and images". After discussions at the lesson preparation meeting, Chinese language teacher Zheng Shuling first conducted a training session for all Chinese language teachers in the school during field teaching and research time. She introduced her promotion activities in the reading teaching of Chinese daily newspapers and guided students to cut and paste newspapers to complete interesting three-line poems. This creative activity of assembling image poems uses only words from magazines or newspapers for one class period, which can stimulate students' creativity and rediscover the logic of arrangement and combination of words. Visual art appreciation guidance introduces the Surrealist artists in the history of art, who developed grammatical writing by reorganizing letters in an unconscious state, allowing students to understand the creativity of modern art, pop art, Dadaism, and Surrealist artists in using ready-made images. Combinations inspire students to develop visual aesthetic abilities in image collage. In addition, the Kang Xuan Qixia art textbook selected by our school has a collage unit. The art teacher also believes that image collage can allow seventh grade students to demonstrate their basic ability in aesthetic expression. Students can use their image association skills without being limited to realistic expression. In the course, students will become proficient in the art operation skills of collage techniques such as scissors cutting and glue pasting. Performing arts combines students' three-line poetry achievements in Chinese and visual arts, choosing to use body movements or sounds to interpret the artistic conception of image poetry.
